Blue Anchor and Watchet are very dog-friendly, as is West Somerset generally.
The Chalet
The ‘conservatory’ is an ideal dog room, with good views of the beach, other canines etc, and access to the paved area for outdoor sniffing and observation. Our dogs love it! The small paved area has a 1 metre picket fence.
Dogs welcome
Charges - £3 per dog per night
Please bring your own dog bedding and bowls etc.
As you would expect, dogs are not allowed on the furniture and must not be left unattended.
Blue Anchor and Watchet are enjoyed by families, so, of course, dogs need to be friendly and well-behaved. To reassure other residents and visitors, please keep your dog on a lead (or under very close control) whilst in the Chalet Park area and near the Flat.
The Flat
Staying at the Flat with dogs is no problem; we’ve stayed there with various dogs over the years - our mature Collie crosses, a German Shepherd and even a young Labrador puppy! The car park 20 yards away is ideal for early and late ‘visits’ and there’s a pooh bin near the entrance. West Street beach, the West Pier, East Quay, the Esplanade and the Memorial Ground are nearby (we love the beach, only about 3-4 minutes away). The Flat is also ideally placed for those lovely dog-friendly pubs and cafes... great fun.

Beaches
Dogs are allowed on Blue Anchor Beach all year round. Clearing up after dogs is required within the chalet park area, and is encouraged along the beach or footpaths where necessary. Special bins are easily found.
In Watchet, dogs can go on the small West Street beach, and on the West Pier and round the Marina on the East Quay. Sharing a picnic on the Esplanade or with a view of the lighthouse is usually acceptable to canines!
In Minehead, dogs can use the beach near the golf course (eastern end of the beach, near Butlins) all year round. They can go on the main town beaches from October to February only.
Local pubs and cafes
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in many local pubs and cafes, especially the Driftwood Cafe and Smuggler’s Inn in Blue Anchor, and in Pebbles Bistro and The Star Inn in Watchet.

Other places
Dogs are welcome on the steam trains of the West Somerset Railway, at a charge of course, and they love it. There are many canine train enthusiasts on the line!As for Exmoor, the Brendons and the Quantocks…you and your dog will be spoilt for choice…
