Watchet
A small, quiet, friendly town with 1000 years of history as a port, and links with the Ancient Mariner. Quaint and off the beaten track, but with plenty to see and do... most of it within a few minutes’ walk of the Flat, which is just behind this building ...
West Street Beach - small beach 3 minutes from the Flat with a seawater paddling pool. When the tide is out, you can walk along the beach to Blue Anchor and Minehead.
Watchet Museum and Watchet Boat Museum - not huge but both full of treasures and fascinating history
Great pubs, cafes and restaurants - including:
Chives deli - great produce and cafe
Pebbles Bistro - home-cooked, simple food including home-made chips!
Peking Garden - nice Chinese restaurant in main street, good for takeaways, too
The London - looks plain but the food is great, especially Sunday lunch in the dining room overlooking the harbour
The Star Inn - a charming, award-winning CAMRA pub with great food
Esplanade Club - you can be signed in and enjoy good beer and loads of local history and entertainment
Plus many others.... Dogs especially welcome in the Star and Pebbles
Dogs allowed

Good range of small shops and supermarkets including: local crafts and souvenirs, art gallery, post office, antiques (and junk!), bank, newsagent, clothing, deli, hairdresser, florist, Albert’s ‘Ardware, Co-op - all within a minute or two of the Flat... plenty of others within a short drive
Memorial Ground - an open green area alongside the railway overlooking the sea. Children’s playground, sports pitches, plenty of room for dogs, paths to Donniford Beach to the east, famous for its fossils, and the Marina to the west.
Tropiquaria- zoo and animal adventure park a very short drive away.
